Cement reacts with water: that is what makes it harden, but it is also what degrades it when it is poorly stored. Cement that has absorbed moisture forms lumps and loses part of its strength.
Best practices
- Store bags in a closed, dry, well-ventilated room or, failing that, under a waterproof tarp.
- Never place bags directly on the ground: use pallets or planks.
- Keep stacks away from walls to avoid moisture transfer through contact.
- Limit stack height so the bottom bags are not compressed.
- Use the oldest bags first ("first in, first out").
- Carefully reseal any opened bag and use it quickly.
Order at the right pace
Cement does not keep well over long periods, especially in the rainy season. Rather than stockpiling large quantities, it is better to schedule regular deliveries matched to your project's progress. That is exactly what we can plan with you.
